International Sub-Saharan Migrations to and through Turkey, and ICTs, the symposium
organized jointly by our African migrants project and Dr. Ibrahim Soysüren from Neuchâtel
University in Switzerland took place on May 19-20 in the Cezayir Conference Center, Istanbul,
and by online participation. 23 researchers from countries in Europe and Africa participated in
the meeting and presented papers.

Lesley N. Braun from Basel University in Switzerland, visited our research center on March 23, 2022. Dr. Braun conducted research on Congolese women traders who engage in business trips between Kinshasa and Guangzhou. After the pandemic, she shifted her research location to study Congolese merchant women who reside in Dubai and in Istanbul. Dr. Braun focuses on how working women change their society in the course of their activities.
